Request for Proposals Logo Redesign 2013

Request for Proposals Logo Redesign

Deadline for submissions: January 28, 2013 (midnight)
Final deliverables due: March 29, 2013
Submit proposals: By email with ‘RFP for logo redesign’ in the subject line

To: Diana Bronson, Executive Director, communications@foodsecurecanada.org

Food Secure Canada (FSC) is a Canada-wide alliance of civil society organizations and individuals collaborating to advance dialogue and cooperation for policies and programs that advance three interlocking commitments: zero hunger; a sustainable food system; and healthy and safe food.

FSC unites people and organizations working for food security nationally and globally. FSC is a registered non-profit society with a wide membership that includes local and national organizations and unaffiliated individuals. It works for its members, facilitating collaborative activities by members to advance food security. FSC convenes people and organizations from across the country for joint projects and advocacy goals.

Project Description
Food Secure Canada is seeking the creation of a new logo / visual identity that captures the values and mission of the organization and is distinctive and memorable. FSC’s membership and work encompasses food systems initiatives and communities across Canada, including the far north so the logo must be accessible to a broad demographic.

This logo will be incorporated into a revamped website, our facebook page and twitter account and other possible future web presence that FSC may have. It will also be used on letterhead, business cards, brochures, banners and other print materials as needed.

It is expected that the development of the new logo will evolve as part of a conversation with FSC staff and steering committee members.  A ‘creative strategy’ or brand document will be produced capturing how the existing mission, values and priorities of FSC are reflected in the proposed logo.  At least 3 logos will be proposed over the course of the project.

Please note that FSC has simultaneously issued an RFP to redesign FSC’s online presence.  We welcome joint submissions to both RFPs – see our website for more details.

Project Value
Proposals can be submitted as a flat fee or hourly rate but are not to exceed $5000 inclusive of taxes.

Design Requirements
The logo may be text or image based but must work for a range of media (print and web), be readily scalable, and work well in both colour and greyscale as well as in English and French. No more than three colours should be used in order to minimize costs of print materials. Final logo files must be delivered in JPEG and Illustrator AI format with the following variations:

• Standard logo for use on white / light backgrounds (all backgrounds
should be set to transparent)
• Standard logo for use on dark backgrounds
• Horizontal and vertical variations (if appropriate for the design)

The colour palette the logo design must be provided in web hex, RGB, CMYK and PMS Pantone Swatch.

Should the logo include typeface, font information must be provided. AI files submitted should have all typeface outlined.

An FSC identity and usage guide should accompany the final submission, clearly demonstrating and explaining the design elements (logo, typography if appropriate, brand attributes, colour palette, etc).

The final submission is to be delivered on a thumb drive or disk.

Submission Information
Proposals should include samples of or links to previous work, up to three references, and a proposed process or work plan for the logo design with any associated expenses.
